Methodology & data sources

Our calculator starts with a baseline range and adjusts for job inputs like size, access, and risk. Local factors are shown only when they are sourced and recently verified.

How the estimator works

  • Start with a service baseline (tree removal, stump grinding, etc.).
  • Apply multipliers for height, trunk diameter, access, and risk.
  • Add line items for haul-away, stump grinding, or emergency response.
  • Return low/typical/high ranges to show realistic outcomes.

Local adjustments

We apply a labor cost index (BLS OEWS Tree Trimmers and Pruners data) when available. If no wage data exists, we use a population proxy and clearly label it as such.

Local factors (permits, climate, emergency guidance) only appear when a source URL and recent verification date are present.

What the estimate includes

  • Standard labor and cleanup assumptions.
  • Safety multipliers for structures and power lines.
  • Scenario examples generated from the same calculator logic.

Estimates are not quotes. Always confirm scope and pricing with a local professional.

Data sources & refresh cadence

  • BLS OEWS wage data (annual refresh).
  • Municipal code portals for regulations (yearly verification).
  • NOAA/NCEI climate normals for seasonality references.

If a source becomes stale, we suppress the claim until it is verified again.

We are not a contractor

Tree Removal Estimator provides pricing guidance and a calculator. We do not perform tree services. Use the estimator to understand ranges before requesting quotes from local professionals.
